Olympic Male Athlete of the Year
Alex Hall
Slopestyle and Big Air, U.S. Ski & Snowboard
Park City’s Alex Hall has always focused on uniqueness in his career as one of the world’s best freeski slopestyle athletes. Alex was born in Alaska, grew up in Switzerland and moved to Utah as a teen for training opportunities and to attend Park City’s Winter Sports School.
After a breakout slopestyle silver at the 2016 Youth Olympic Games, Alex made his Olympic debut in 2018 at Pyeongchang, finishing 16th. In Beijing, he threw down a creative run that included a unique line down the course, finishing with a right-side double-cork 1080 Pretzel One – a signature trick that seemingly defied all laws of physics to win gold for Team USA. The win capped a phenomenal season that included three World Cup podiums and an X Games win mere weeks before the Olympics, where he spun into the future landing the first ever double cork 2160.
Alex’s win in Beijing gave him his first career Olympic hardware to go along with his impressive nine X Games medals and career 8 World Cup podiums. Through it all, Alex has competed on his own terms, with a focus on individuality, creativity and most importantly, having fun.
