Utah Hockey Club’s Inaugural Game

National Hockey League

On October 8, 2024, Utah Hockey Club officially ushered in a new chapter of professional hockey to The State of Sport, hosting its inaugural game at the Delta Center. In front of a record-breaking sellout crowd of 16,020, Utah delivered a statement win, defeating the Chicago Blackhawks 5-2.

The night was more than just a game–it was a statewide, day-long celebration, featuring outdoor festivities, a nationally televised broadcast on ESPN, and an unforgettable ceremonial puck delivery. The energy inside the Delta Center was unmatched as Dylan Guenther etched his name in the history books with the first goal in franchise history.

In just 173 days since its relocation, Utah Hockey Club set arena records for merchandise and beverage sales, underscoring the overwhelming support for Utah’s newest pro team.
