Coach of the Year
Isaac Wood
Cross Country and Track & Field, Salt Lake Community College
A native of Utah, Isaac Wood grew up around the track and field community—coaching at Weber State University and serving as director of operations at Brigham Young University. In 2022, Wood was tasked with creating a cross country program from scratch at Salt Lake Community College.
Eighteen months later, the women’s half marathon and cross country teams each won an NJCAA National title; the men’s fell just eight points short of doing the same. JaQuavious Harris became the men’s individual champion, and freshman Emerald Kehr was the runner-up for women.
Wood is the co-founder and executive director of the Run Elite Program, Utah’s first professional running organization, and coached five athletes at the recent Olympic Marathon Trials.
