2018 Olympians Maame Biney, Aaron Tran highlight Team USA lineup at ISU Short Track World Cup.

Salt Lake City, UT (October 28, 2019) – US Speedskating will field a strong lineup headlined
by 2018 Olympians Maame Biney and Aaron Tran at the Utah Olympic Oval’s ISU World Cup
Short Track this weekend.

Competing in the first World Cup event of the season on “The Fastest Ice on Earth” – the 19-
year-old Biney is looking to build on a bronze medal in both the 500 Meter and Mixed Relay
events in the 2018-2019 World Cup season. Biney also won the women’s 500 Meter event in

the U.S. Olympic Team Trials at the Utah Olympic Oval and skated in both the 500 Meter and
1500 Meter events in the 2018 PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games.

Tran skated in his first 1,000 Meter A Final last year in the ISU World Cup Short Track event at
the Oval and has continuously improved since then. Along with teammate Thomas Hong, Tran
finished just short of the podium in the 5,000 Meter Relay in PyeongChang and was integral in
the Mixed Relay win along with Biney last season. Tran and Hong will both be skaters to watch
for podium appearances throughout the World Cup season.

Rounding out the team will be 2019 World Junior Inline Skating Champion Corinne Stoddard –
who has traded in wheels for speed skates as an athlete to watch in the longer skating
distances. The 18-year-old finished 5th in both the 500 Meter and 3000 Meter Relay events at
the 2018-19 World Short Track Junior Championships.

This three-day competition will feature the world’s top Short Track skaters from the U.S., the
Netherlands, Russia, China, South Korea and more. Skaters will be racing in the following
distances: 500m, 1000m, 1500m, 2000m mixed gender relay, 3000m relay and 5000m relay.

The event on Saturday will also feature a fan zone with sponsor booths, Olympic sport activities
and a face painter.

Tickets are available for purchase on SmithsTix.com for $10 for adults (ages 13+) and $5 for
youth ages 6 to 12. Children 5 and under will be admitted to the event for free. Admission is
